Gig Harbor Little League Registration Information

Important Registration Information for 2025

PLAYERS LEAGUE AGE 4-7 CAN REGISTER IN THE LEAGUE OF THEIR CHOICE -

New for the 2025 season, children League Age 4-7 are eligible to register to play with Gig Harbor Little League regardless if they reside or attend school within our league boundaries. Those players who register under this option will also be fully eligible to participate in all aspects of league play, including International Tournament play, for the duration of their Little League careers provided they have continuous and unbroken participation within the specific league where initially registered and provided all other participation eligibility requirements have been met.
NOTE: This is for players League Age 4-7 only. Players League Age 8-16 as of the 2025 season (born on or before September 1, 2017, for Baseball or January 1, 2017, for Softball) will continue to utilize the current boundary requirement based on residency or school enrollment.

REGISTERING FOR MINORS BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL -

New for the 2025 season, during the registration process, players League Ages 8-11 will only be given the option to register for Minors Baseball or Minors Softball rather than the Coach/Player Pitch "AA" or Player Pitch "AAA" divisions as we have done in the past.
THIS IS FOR REGISTRATION PURPOSES ONLY, we will still be offering both of these divisions of play.

At Player Evaluations in February, all players registered in Minors Baseball or Minors Softball will be evaluated for both the Coach/Player Pitch (AA) and Player Pitch (AAA) divisions at the same time - players who want to be considered to "play up" will not have to attend two different evaluations sessions as we required in past years.

Following evaluations, Minors Baseball and Softball players will be drafted to a team at the level most appropriate level for their skills and experience, in either the Coach/Player Pitch (AA) and Player Pitch (AAA) divisions.

NOTE *As always, all League Age 10 and 11 year olds who attend Player Evaluations will also be evaluated for the Majors division, and may be drafted to a Majors team.

TEAMMATE/COACH REQUESTS -

Due to Little League Rules regarding the operation of our league and our draft process, for our Baseball and Softball programs, we cannot accommodate any teammate, coach, carpool or scheduling conflict requests, nor can we switch players to another team once the teams have been drafted.
Our Tee Ball and Quickball programs the only programs in which we accommodate coach and/or teammate requests if possible.

AGE VERIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Gig Harbor Little League provides programs for players “League Age” 4 to 16. You can determine your child's league age by clicking this link -  League Age Calculator. You will be required to upload a copy of your player's birth certificate as proof of age during the registration process, and will not be able to proceed with registration until you have done so, so please make sure you have your players birth certificate before beginning the registration process. It must be a clearly legible document. ***NOTE - if you are a returning player, you should not have to upload a copy of your child's birth certificate as you had already done so as part of the registration previously.***

RESIDENCY AND SCHOOL ATTENDANCE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS  (Players League Age 8-16 Only)
Confirm that your player meets the Residency or School Attendance Eligibility requirements - players will be eligible to play with GHLL only if you reside or attend a school within the GHLL boundaries - the 98332, 98225 or 98333 zip codes.

Players and their parents/guardians are advised that a false statement of age, residence or school attendance may lead to ineligibility to play Little League Baseball or Softball.

3. Once you have completed these steps, you can now proceed to Online Registration. Note: You will only be able to register your player in the division for which they are League Age eligible.

*If your player does not meet the Little League residency or School Attendance requirements but you feel your player may be eligible with a waiver, before proceeding to online registration please contact our GHLL Registrar at [email protected]

If you have any questions or issues with the registration process, please email our Registrar.

GHLL Volunteer Requirements

Gig Harbor Little League is an all-volunteer organization that cannot provide a quality Little League program to our kids without the generous donation of your time and effort.

The quality and consistency of the Little League experience each year is largely determined by the number of volunteers. The size of our league has grown so much these past few years, but volunteer participation has not, and it has been challenging at times to operate our league without sufficient volunteer participation. We need all parents to be able to volunteer sometime during the course of the season to support not only your child’s team, but also Gig Harbor Little League as an organization. Big or small, there's always something that you can do that will be greatly appreciated.

GHLL will be requiring families (excluding families with players only registered in our Tee Ball, Quickball and Coach Pitch Baseball & Softball divisions) to sign up and commit to volunteering for a minimum of 4 hours per family this season

We realize that not all families are able to meet the above volunteer commitments. Families that choose to opt-out of the volunteer commitment will be charged a $100 non-volunteer fee during the registration process. This fee is per family, not per player. Similarly, if you volunteer for a specific role but don't fulfill the volunteer commitment by the end of the season, your account may be assessed the fee.

Listed below are the volunteer roles you can choose from during the registration process. We do not expect you to just jump in and do these tasks on your own. GHLL will provide trainings and fully support our volunteers in these tasks.

  • Team Manager - Serve as the Head Coach for a Tee Ball, Quickball, Baseball or Softball team for season
  • Assistant Coach –  Serve as an Assistant Coach for a Tee Ball, Quickball, Baseball or Softball team for season
  • Umpire - Umpire 5 games in either our Baseball or Softball program at the Coach/player Pitch (AA) level and above
  • Team Field Crew - Assist Team Manager with prepping the  field either before or after a game for a minimum of 4 games during the season
  • GHLL Park Prep & Maintenance - Be on call to help make the GHLL fields playable due to rainy weather, help with GHLL park maintenance before and during the season
